From our board president, Willow McLaughlin Hill:
I’d like to remind you that we are having our annual meeting of NAMI of Central Iowa on Tuesday, May 19 at 7:00 p.m. in the P.E.O. Room of the Ames Public Library. Our guest speaker will be Linda Hanson, clinic director of Primary Health Care, the recently opened community health center located at 3510 West Lincoln Way in Ames. She will tell us about the many affordable services offered at this clinic, including but not solely, mental health care. The annual meeting will follow the presentation and will require a quorum of the membership in order to vote for the new board of directors. I encourage everyone to attend and meet your board of directors!
I’d also like to announce that after several months, we are happy to introduce Leah Demarest as NAMI CI’s new Executive Director! Leah comes to us with a background in mental health and was recently a case manager with Story County. You will get to know her better in the June newsletter, but between now and then please feel free to contact the office to get to know Leah! She officially starts Monday, May 18.
I want to thank everyone for your kind words and support during these last six months. We knew finding someone to take over the Executive Director duties would be a big task, and we are happy that we took our time to find the right person. I am excited to support Leah as we work towards our goal to provide support, advocacy, and education. I am confident that we have the right person behind the wheel to provide the best services and support we can.
Thank you for your continued support, and I look forward to seeing you at the meeting Tuesday.
